1. What do the two girls and Jordan discuss that leads us to believe Gatsby leads a shady existence?
The girls and Jordan were discussing about Grastby, now no body knew his true identity. On of the girls said he was a German spy and one said he had killed somebody.

2. Jordan and Nick encounter a man in Gatsby’s library. What do this man’s comments imply about people’s ideas about Gatsby?
The man talks about books being real. Also, he claims that the books are made with nice cardboard.

3. Describe Nick’s first meeting with Gatsby?
Nick and Gatsby physically meet during the party. Nick ran into a handsome, youthful man, who seems familiar at the garden. Nick was in a conversation with the man but realized he did not meet the host, Gatsby. The person Nick was with was Gatsby.

4. What does Nick think of Gatsby when he first meets him?
Nick thought Gatsby was formal and elegant person. He also thought he was well educated young man because Gatsby used specific words when having a discussion. Nick also believes that Gatsby is an understanding person with a warm heart.

5. Describe the events and atmosphere of the party.
The atmosphere of the party is very “alive.” Most of the people are washed with alcohol and all dressed in a high-quality clothing.

6. Compare the setting of the party in chapter three to the setting of the party in chapter two.
The party on chapter three is more opened for the guest. Many come and goes as they wish, but they do not know who the host is. Compared to chapter two, the guests are more socialized and enjoys the alcohol.

7. What is the significance of the differences between the two parties?
The party is too big that most of the guests to do not know who the host, Gatsby. For the first party, you had to be invited but the second party, there were guests without an invitation.

Later on, Nick learns that Jordan is a dishonest person who does what she believes to do. He also knows that she had cheated on her first golf tournament.

Nick believes that he is the one with honesty.

11. How does Nick characterize the guests at Gatsby’s party?
Nick characterizes the guests to be rich and some what spoiled, to go and come the party when they want without the host knowing. Also, they are enjoying the alcohol.

12. What does Nick’s characterization tell us about how Nick feels about most of these people?
Nick is proud of himself being the true “human.” He feels like he is full with good moral. He does not interact with others but tends to listen to others gossip.

13. What sense of life in the Jazz Age do we get from the description of the party?
During the period where America’s economy recovers, people are enjoying parties and alcohol. There are jazz musics along with other musics played for a long time.
